I grew up in an Advertising and Marketing household, learning early how storytelling is critical to selling your product. Earning my BS in Information Systems from Capella University, as well as both CISSP and CISM certificates have sustained my passion for technology, but it was that desire to tell a story that drove me to the next level. As the Director of Information Security for Columbia Sportswear Company, I use this talent to build vision, gain alignment, make improvements, and report outcomes across the company. I see security through a simple lens – if technology could fix this problem, it already would have. If we want to see meaningful change in our industry, we must change our approach. I love sharing our practices and showing how we’ve made great progress in keeping our organization safe. When I’m not at work, I love to play boardgames with my wife and teenage son.
